Marlborough Chelsea is pleased to present EAGLES II, an exhibition of recent work by American contemporary artists at Galeriá Marlborough Madrid, on view January 14 – February 14, 2015.
The second in an ongoing series of exhibitions organized by Marlborough Chelsea, EAGLES II features 20 artists from across the U.S.A. The show is a snapshot of the diversity of artistic practices being employed today and an attempt to give broad exposure of the American art scene to a Spanish audience. Artists working in a variety of painting strategies, sculpture, photography, and mixed media are all included.
Rather than being a thematic exhibition, loose groupings and affinities between the artists and works are revealed through their juxtapositions within the gallery installation. Established names such as Sterling Ruby, Mike Bouchet & Paul McCarthy, and Tony Matelli are exhibited alongside up-and-comers such as Margaret Lee and Theodora Allen, allowing their contributions to cross-pollinate creating perfect conditions for dynamic new ideas to be realized.
A full-color catalogue with an introductory essay by Los Angeles-based artist Drew Heitzler will accompany the exhibition.
